Here's a first peek at Caroline Muir's upcoming book, Tantra Goddess, which is a breathtaking emotional rollercoaster ride that starts with the obligatory divorce that kicks off any powerful woman's life adventure, to some of the wackiest situations you can imagine... complete with movie moguls in Hollywood and tantric threesomes in Bali and a veritable ménage à tribe on Maui. This no-holds-barred peek behind the curtains of the most powerful couple in the neo-Tantra business - Charles and Caroline Muir - is an eye-raising tour de force of sexual healings, female ejaculations, experimental polyamory, emotional crescendos, all of it begging and aching for an ultimate act of compersion...

Also thankfully, this autobiography is wrapped up in some surprisingly good writing. This is one book you'll want in your beach bag for a soul-satisfying summer read. We give it three OMs!

Enjoy this excerpt compliments of the author!

Charles was waiting at the airport to greet me when my plane touched down in Honolulu, placing gardenia leis one after another around my neck. “You’re here, beloved, you’re here!” He took me in his arms and kissed me passionately, holding me as if we hadn't seen each other for years, then we joined hands and he led me to the inter-island terminal for the short flight to Maui. Our great romantic adventure was beginning and my feet hardly touched the ground.

Charles had come to Maui a week earlier to see two women he was deep in sexually loving relationship with. He knew the fragile nature of attachment and he didn’t want to end things abruptly; he wanted to be gentle with them as our new and skyrocketing relationship took off. He always wanted to leave people better than he found them, he liked to say.

Once the doors to this new love swung wide open, I couldn’t remember a life that didn’t include this. I was breathlessly in love on the beaches and in the arms of a man who enchanted me from the first light of dawn until we drifted to sleep in the balmy Hawaiian night. Our temporary home was a two-bedroom condo on the touristy side of the island, nowhere we wanted to stay but a good starting place. We couldn’t wait to trade in the land of the tourists on the sunset side of the island for the “wild” side, where the jungle meets the sea and sunrise is a blaze of inspiration. We knew this was where we would find our new home. But first, Mira had to get here, and she would in just a couple of days, and John-ji would arrive two weeks later.

Mira and I couldn’t have been happier. We took care of the business of settling into our new life, applying for driver’s licenses, opening bank accounts, buying cars, and scouring the classifieds every morning for the perfect house to rent. Every day we kept Charles busy with sacred spot massage sessions, and afterward, he and I or he and Mira would make love. It still wasn’t easy to share him this way, even now that we were in Hawaii and living our vision of the beloved truth, but Charles was committed to his vision, and I agreed it was right to keep from getting lost in my romantic ideal of “just the two of us.” It couldn’t be that and be what Mira and I had conceived that night in Mexico. Still, I hadn’t planned on falling in love with this man who had been my friend for years already. Deep inside, I hoped I could really do this.

One Sunday, a few weeks after John-ji arrived, Charles waved the Maui Newsin our faces over breakfast at a favorite restaurant in Paia. “Look at this! There’s a two-story for rent on two acres out Door of Faith Road. I have some good friends down that way.” Charles’s friends on Door of Faith Road were Cos (Cosmic Galaxy), from Charles’s days in Big Sur, and Cos’s girlfriend, Blue Vision. They were building an octagonal cliff-side home and developing their own two acres on Door of Faith Road. They both had been Charles’s lovers for some time, and he adored them. Within minutes we were racing down the Hana Highway past acres of pineapple fields and tropical jungle to the turnoff at Door of Faith Road. There, we inched along an unpaved road, laughing as we tried to avoid the deepest potholes. I noticed a hand-painted sign in front of a small church we passed advertising “Door of Faith Church,” written in uneven letters. Door of Faith Church? This wasn’t just a road, it was a whole community! I felt a tingle surge up my spine. This truly was a walk through the door of faith. And it was great to be here.

About a mile down the road, perched high on a cliff overlooking the rugged coastline all the way to Hana, our house waited for us. We parked in front and threw open the car doors to go explore.

I had not dreamed of a house set back from the cliff—I had imagined our home being oceanside. But as I stood on the wrap-around deck inhaling the salty trade winds fresh from their journey across the sea and saw the swaying palms around the border of the property, I knew this was where we were meant to be. That horizon line where sky met sea would be my solace many times to come, I knew. I wanted this view. I turned to Charles, who was grinning at me. “Let’s do it.”

Exactly one month after I arrived in Maui, we were moving into our new home, with a bedroom that shared the first floor with the yoga room and a small office and Mira and John-ji’s bedroom upstairs with the kitchen and living room. And my share of the rent? Only three hundred dollars. Maui was surely receiving us with grace.

Our first night in our new home, we drifted to sleep on our new waterbed to the enchanting lull of the waves when two warm bodies slipped in beside us. I felt soft kisses placed on my cheeks before I knew what was happening.

“Cos and Blue!” Charles cried.

Charles kissed them both as they snuggled firm, tanned bodies against us. “You’re here! You’re our neighbor!” they giggled.

I extracted myself from the pile and leaned against the wall to try to see these visitors in the dim moonlight. Beloved, where are you?

Charles nodded to me, then turned to his friends. “Hey, you guys,” he said, gently. “This is our first night in our new house. Another time might be better for my queen.”

“We came over to celebrate with you,” Blue said. “We can’t wait to love her as much as we love you.”

“Tomorrow is the full moon,” said Cos. “We’ll see you then!” He took Blue by the hand and called out “Aloha!” and they were off and disappearing through the sliding screened door as suddenly as they came. Charles reached out for me and I curled into his embrace and lay down with him again.

“I can’t imagine making love with them, Charles,” I whispered. “I don’t even know them.”

“You can love them tantrically, and let them love you. That’s how you’ll really get to know them.”

I couldn’t imagine. “It’s hard for me, Charles.”

“I can see that. Have you changed your mind about sharing our love with Mira and John-ji?”

“I would be forcing it,” I admitted. “I never wanted to share love with John-ji. And if we were all together I know I’d be expected to.”

It was hard saying this, but I had to be honest. Mira and I had talked earlier that day and she wanted things to change, too. She was sad to let go of Charles as her lover, but it was hard dividing her attention between him and John-ji. I told her I understood and that I didn’t want to share sexually with her anymore, either.

Charles lay back on his pillow and was quiet for a long time. After he fell asleep, I lay awake trying to make sense of everything. Was I old-fashioned? My sexuality was so private, my gift to the one I love. But I had turned my life upside-down to live Tantra with Charles. This was part of the bargain. How familiar this felt—one foot on the accelerator, the other on the brake. It was a long night.
