
Most people think of creative people as having a well-developed right brain, as if the right brain is totally responsible for the creative inspiration. In the same vein, many consider the left-brain to be a hindrance to creativity. In this article, we’ll see how completely integrated right and left-brain are in the act of creation.
In the spring of 1979, I felt something brewing inside me, and I visited some friends, a family of well-known classical guitarists, and announced to them that I was becoming a composer soon. They opened a bottle of champagne and toasted to the new composer. I was expecting classical music to start pouring out of me.
On July 1, 1979, the first of 2,200 songs arrived and a deluge began. I often composed 3 or more songs a day. When the songs started to pour through me, I recognized them as the best or highest art I’d ever created.
